Teams Entered:
This year two teams were entered into the Birmingham and District Chess League - in Division One and Division 3.
A total of 25 players played at least one game for the club in these two leagues. Several players played in matches for both teams adding crucial points to the board and ensuring all matches were completed without any defaults.
Division One:
This was mutual circle's second consecutive season in division one and the team were keen to improve on their mid-table, sixth place finish from 2021/2 (10 points - 4W, 2D, 5L).
After a very strong start the team were very much in contention for the top spot but after a close 2.5-3.5 loss to Solihull A (Eventual winners) this was just not to be.
Finally the team ended in the very commendable 4th spot with 13 points (W5, D3, L3).
Special mention to Luke Boyton and Bruce Baer who were the lynchpins of the team playing in every match of the season and achieving exceptional scores (8.5 and 7 respectively). We were also very fortunate to have a number of players join us whilst in the area and although some were only in the region for a short while they made their presence felt. Thanks to Kyle and Arjun - we would be only too pleased to see you when you are back in the area.
We will be very sorry to see Wole leave the club at the end of the season but wish him all the very best in his new career in Ireland.

Division Three:
An incredible 18 players turned out for Mutual Circle in division three during the course of the season and this saw a welcome return of several players who have been missed in the last couple of years.
The season started out very well with 3 wins and a draw from the first 5 matches but after that only one further match win came for the rest of the season. This was unfortunate as some matches went close to the wire but just not quite Mutual's way. There were some strong individual performances including 3.5/5 for Mike Hollier and 4.5/7 for Saket Singhal. Full table below
